Refugio Casa Colorada History, culture and nature are mixed in Refugio Casa Colorada, a unique hotel which offers an ample terrace with an amazing panoramic, and very enchanting, view of the city, where the whole of the city of Guanajuato can be seen from this wonderful property.

The architecture of this beautiful colonial style hotel began in the 1970s, originally planned to house the Center of Economic and Social Studies of The Third World, on the instructions of Luis Echeverria Alvarez, President of Mexico at that time. Ten years later, in 2002, the property was sold and turned into an intimate boutique hotel with extraordinary guestrooms replete of luxury and comfort, and a fascinating cactus garden which is a complete delight for all nature lovers.

The six suites of Casa del Refugio reflect, in name, a bit of the local history and lore of Guanajuato. They are comfortable and practical rooms and have a marvelous view of this city. The decorative elements harmonize perfectly, making it all the more cozy and warm. Some have wooden floors and all have picturesque bathrooms with traditional, Mexican tiles, exhibiting excellent taste in decor.
